Special Day giving

Support our work by asking for donations instead of presents, or giving a gift donation or membership.

Ask for donations instead of presents

If you have everything you need and your friends and family are insisting on having a party or buying presents why not ask for donations to be made and use this as an opportunity to raise funds for the BTO?

Whether it’s because you love watching the birds in your garden or have a passion for birdwatching, requesting donations instead of material goods is really rewarding for you and those making the gifts. It’s a perfect way to support Britain’s birds and aid their conservation.

Some ways that you could help raise vital funds

Raise money online

Set up a personalised JustGiving page and email the link to friends and family.

Collect donations at a celebratory event

Ask friends and family to your celebration and let them know that you will be collecting donations for BTO, so that they come prepared. We can provide promotional material to help you with the event.

“When we celebrated our wedding we suggested that guests might want to support the BTO's Migration Atlas, and particularly the Pink-footed Goose pages, instead of giving us presents. We raised hundreds of pounds for the BTO, and each skein of Pink-feet we see is a reminder of a great day. A flock of toasters would have had far less appeal”  - BTO Member

Ask friends and family to send their gifts directly to us

Or, if a loved one is passionate about birds and securing a better future for wildlife, you could make a donation to celebrate their special day. The gift could support a particular appeal, or the full range of the work carried out by BTO. We can produce a personalised certificate and letter acknowledging a donation made in their name.
