European Breeding Bird Atlas 2

05 Jul 2017 Woodchat Shrike by Pedro Nicolau

The second European Breeding Bird Atlas is now in its final season, having started in 2013. The project is collating records with breeding evidence from across Europe, including Britain and Ireland. Records are particularly sought from southeastern and eastern Europe, where observer coverage is relatively low. If you have been birding in this area of Europe since 2013, please do add your sightings – with breeding evidence – via the global portal.

Breeding evidence is also still needed for Britain, Ireland and the Channel Islands; while most species are now coming towards the end of the breeding season, there are a few late breeders, such as Hobby and Honey Buzzard, worth looking out for. You can check for species missing breeding evidence near you by using the Find the Gap tool.
