In a marked contrast to last week, signs of spring seem to be in evidence once more. In central Scotland, Oystercatchers have begun moving back to their breeding grounds, whilst further south Stock Doves have begun calling, reflected in an increase in the reporting rate. Just round the corner from where BirdTrack is based (at BTO in Thetford, Norfolk), an even earlier-breeding dove species provided a surprise during the snowy weather of a fortnight ago: a Collared Dove was found nesting!
