Whinchat and Cuckoo

A few Whinchats have already been recorded on passage in the southern half of Britain. More can be expected over the next fortnight; this period has seen the highest spring reporting rate in recent years. Whinchats are recorded much more frequently during autumn migration, with a clear peak in late August/early September. Cuckoos have also arrived in force in the last week, a few days earlier than in the previous two years.
