Short-eared Owl

Coastal marshes are a traditional place to search for Short-eared Owls and the reporting rate shows that this is the peak time of year to look for them, as immigrants arrive from Scandinavia and continental Europe. Other recent arrivals to look out for this weekend are Woodcock (such as the one I flushed on Friday, whilst failing to find any Waxwings in Thetford!) and waterfowl such as Pochard.
