Look out for Spotted Flycatcher

15 May 2019 Spotted Flycatcher by Jeff Lack

Spotted Flycatchers are one of the last summer migrants to arrive in Britain and Ireland, with first birds typically reported from late April onwards. Favouring large gardens and parks, as well as broadleaf woodland, the easiest way to spot a Spotted Flycatcher is watch for one dashing from a perch to catch insects in flight, returning to its original perch.

The population of Spotted Flycatcher has declined by 86% since 1970, with declines throughout Britain and Ireland. You can help monitor Spotted Flycatchers by logging your sightings with breeding evidence in BirdTrack.
