Look out for... Reed Warbler

As the name suggests, Reed Warbler prefers to nest in reedbeds, sometimes even surprisingly small patches. Even in small patches of reeds, Reed Warblers can be surprisingly difficult to find. The easiest way to find one is to listen for its song as this can reveal a singing bird perched in a more exposed location.
The first birds typically arrive back in mid April from their wintering grounds in central and southern Africa. May is the peak month for Reed Warbler in Britain and Ireland based on the reporting rate in BirdTrack. Though still scarce in Ireland and Scotland, the population has been expanding north and west in recent years and it can be found it most areas of suitable habitat in England and Wales.
