Spurn Young Birder of the Year award presentation

The Martin Garner Award for Spurn Young Birder of the Year is open to aspiring young birders across the UK. The initial round involves an online questionnaire, and from this pool five finalists were invited to this years Spurn Migration Festival. After several challenges including tests on seawatching and sound identification, Dante Shepherd from London was announced as the winner.

If you will be 16 or under in September 2017 – or know a young birder who will be – and are interested in taking part, keep an eye on the BTO website for entry details.

Paper call for special HPAI issue

A special issue of the BTO journal Bird Study, bringing together research documenting the HPAI outbreak and its impacts on wild birds, will be published in late 2024.
