Spring activity on EuroBirdportal

15 Mar 2017 EuroBirdPortal

With the first spring migrants beginning to arrive back, we are heading towards one of the busiest periods of bird recording in the year. A fascinating new visualisation on EuroBirdPortal shows that in March 2015 for example, over 70,000 birders recorded more than a million bird records in one week!

The EuroBirdPortal project aims to collate information from bird recording systems across Europe, including your BirdTrack sightings. The demonstration viewer has also had new data added, with 50 additional species and a new year available to view. Some interesting examples of this combined dataset include different movement patterns of Waxwing and Yellow-browed Warblers between years. Can you find any other notable differences in the species patterns?
