The Nature Tracker's Handbook
A fantastic resource for adults and younger naturalists. A one-stop-shop introduction to interpreting animal tracks and signs, richly illustrated, logically ordered and accessible. My only minor quibbles would be the inclusion of references (and illustrations) of bear and Black Woodpecker, neither of which is found in the UK, as the rest of the book seems very much UK-focused. Other than that a very early chapter covers equipment and very quickly gets on to plaster casts and trail cameras (automatic camera traps). Anyone enthusiastic to get started may be put off by this specialist equipment. It is worth getting past this part, though, as there is ample tracking and interpretation you can do with minimal equipment. I wish I had had this book when I was younger and exploring the natural environment!
