Last of the Curlews

A reprint of a classic tale, written in the 1950’s at a time when Eskimo Curlews were on the brink of extinction, but still around. Just. The tale is eerily prophetic, as the last reliable sighting of an Eskimo Curlew was in 1962 in Galveston, Texas, just 7 years after publication. A short read, but one that reminds us of Man’s impact on the balance of the wild and harks back to a time, not that long ago, when the prairies were covered in flocks of Eskimo Curlews.
