Hadrian's Wildlife
From the pen of an obvious north of England wildlife enthusiast, John Miles, ‘Hadrian’s Wildlife’ will make a grand accompaniment to the exploration of the lands surrounding the enigmatic Hadrian’s Wall. Walking from west to east, the Solway to Wallsend on Tyneside, you are expertly guided by insight and anecdote through the wildlife, habitats and history of this truly evocative land. It’s easy to glean John’s obvious passions for wildlife, especially birds, as he describes in great detail, what will be encountered on your perambulations along the route of the wall. As an `eastcoaster` myself, I particularly like the references to the `Tyne Gap` migration which orthithologically links the west and east coasts. In conclusion, the occasional use of `Northumbria` and a few minor errors should not and will not detract from anyone’s enjoyment of Hadrian’s Wildlife, especially with the superb and delightful artwork of Mike Henry.
