Richard's Pipit is a scarce visitor to Britain & Ireland, and most records come from the autumn migration period.

Richard's is a large pipit, with long, stout legs and a very long hind claw. The breeding range extends from Kyrgyzstan east to China, and its wintering grounds lay to the south of this, in India and south-east Asia.
