This training will aim to cover all aspects of the Breeding Bird Survey and aims to build the confidence of volunteers keen to participate.

Event Description

Join Steve Willis for a morning session learning about and then practising the methods for the Breeding Bird Survey. It will be supportive group training in an outdoor setting. There will be plenty of time to practise and ask questions, to increase your understanding and confidence with the survey method. This event is suitable for people who are considering taking part in the Breeding Bird Survey, and those who have done so a few times but want to build confidence and ask questions about the finer points of the survey.

Please note this is not a bird identification session and is aimed at volunteers who are relatively confident in identification by song and call.

The event will take place at Murton Farm, by Forfar. This is a great site with a mix of habitats and species.

Bring your own binoculars, bird guide, and notebook plus your own food and drink. Please make sure you wear appropriate clothing for the weather conditions.

Note that in the afternoon we are running a bird ID practice session (bookable separately), for which there is a small charge. The morning survey skills session is free of charge. You are welcome to attend either or both elements of the day.

Further information about the meeting place, car parking, and toilets etc etc will be emailed to registered participants.
