An opportunity to practise Wetland Bird Survey (WeBS) methods, Wader ID and waterbird ID during this relaxed field outing. Recommended for those who have recently completed the online Bitesize Wader and Waterbird ID courses.

Following on from the recent Bitesize Wader and Waterbird training, this afternoon of birdwatching will give you the opportunity to put your ID skills into action as we find out what birds can be seen from Rostrevor in November. We will also introduce you to the Wetland Bird Survey (WeBS) and tell you about how you can get involved.

The session will be relaxed and we will explore the shore together. We will be outside for the whole time so we recommend bringing warm and waterproof clothes, as well as binoculars and telescopes if you have some.

The event is free of charge.

Location

We will meet at the carpark on the right on the way up to Kilbroney Park (where the recycling bins are) before making our way down the hill to the front in search of some birds. The what3words location for the car park is renting.statue.golden

There are toilets in the main part of Kilbroney Park, as well as a cafe, but please bear in mind that we'll be further down the hill for the session.
