Join our Youth Volunteers to visit the stunning Isle of May Bird Observatory and learn from experts why this is such a special place.

Join our Youth Volunteers on an exciting boat trip from Anstruther to the Isle of May, where you will visit the Bird Observatory and see fantastic colonies of seabirds up close. There will also be a ringing demonstration and a local expert to tell you more about the important work that goes on at the Observatory, and how you can get involved. This is a unique experience enabling you to visit a national nature reserve and to view the abundance of birds that return to the island to breed during the summer months.

Come prepared for any weather in appropriate clothing and footwear, and bring some water and a packed lunch. The trip is weather-dependent.

Exact times will be confirmed before the trip. Any questions or to get in touch with the organisers please email youth [at] bto.org

Please note that this event is open to 18–25-year-olds only. This is a subsidised trip and we want to ensure as many people can benefit as possible. Therefore, no-shows will not be tolerated and anyone who does not attend after booking without cancelling in good time will be banned from future BTO Youth events.

This trip is made possibly with the generous support of the Isle of May Bird Observatory
