Since undertaking his remarkable 1,200km U-turn Nussey has continued to move north, albeit at a more sedate pace. Over the last few days he has flown a further 111 km (69 miles) north-east up the French coast to his current location near Lesperon, 29 km (18 miles) north of Dax.

Larry crosses into Italy

12 Jul 2019
Data received from Larry's tag at 5am this morning showed that he had left his last known location in Croatia and flown 412 km (256 miles) south to southern Italy. He is now 80 km (50 miles) east of Naples, between Lioni and Vallata. Larry was tagged in 2015 and based on his movements in previous years we might expect him to stay in Italy until late July/early August when he is likely to fly directly across the Sahara to a stopover site in Chad.

09 Jul 2019
Knepp Cuckoo Lambert has pushed a little further South and is now 11 Km (7 miles) south of the town of Blois. He is currently on a similar path to his southward migration last year. If he continues to follow this path we can expect him to make his next stop in the south of France.

Since our last update, Carlton II has flown another 510 Km (316 miles) south west from his last location near La Rochelle in France to his current location near Benavente in northern Spain. Carlton II was in the same place last year from July 20 until he departed for Africa on August 6.

Nussey makes a U-turn!

09 Jul 2019
Following the news that Nussey had made it to North Africa in double quick time, we bring you the news today that he is back in Europe! Having made it as far as Beni-Mellal in Morocco, Nussey turned back and by 9pm on Monday 8 July he had flown 1,200 Km (784 miles) north to his current location on the France/Spain border. Nussey the first to reach Africa!

04 Jul 2019

As of yesterday morning Nussey is in northern Africa! He is the first of our tagged Cuckoos to make it to Africa this year and has traveled at an astonishing pace. Not only is he the first this year, he is also the earliest ever arrival date for one of tagged Cuckoos to Africa.  Locations on 4 July show him 110km (70 miles) south-east of Tangier, on the northern coast of Morocco.

PJ already close to border with Spain

04 Jul 2019

PJ has departed – and while it looks like he is the last to leave - it appears he was already on his way before Carlton II. Poor quality signals, which don't display on the map, indicate he was close to Brionne in northern France around 7am on 2 July, 370km (235 miles) from Suffolk.

Good quality signals on the morning of 4 July revealed that PJ  was in the south of France, 685km (425 miles) further south close to the border with Spain.  He is now already over  1000km (600 miles) south of his breeding grounds!
