About Nest Quest Live

Join BTO Youth Reps Alice and Joe as they host an evening of talks from guests involved in the BTO Nest Record Scheme.

For our third session Alice and Joe will be joined by: Amira, Jack Slattery and Tommy Saunders, you can find out more about them below.

This session is open to anyone under the age of 30 wanting to find out more about the BTO Nest Record Scheme, how to monitor and find nests, and hear stories from the field! This directly supplements our ongoing Nest Recording Competition: Nest Quest.

Please note that attendees under 13 will need to send in a consent form prior to the event.

Speakers

Amira Nuseibeh

Amira focuses on monitoring the nests of warbler species,  including Wood Warbler, Chiffchaff and Western Bonelli’s Warbler, as part of her work with the Swiss Ornithological Institute. However, she developed her love and knowledge of nest recording here in the UK, mainly in Cornwall.

Jack Slattery

Jack is a nest recorder based in North Wales primarily interested in upland breeding passerines and birds of prey including Choughs, Dippers, Hen Harriers and Ring Ouzels. He also has experience of monitoring waders including Curlews, Lapwings, Ringed Plovers and Oystercatchers.  He works for the RSPB as a Conservation Officer covering Northern Snowdonia, Llŷn and Anglesey.

Tommy Saunders

I’m Tommy and I specialise in raptor nest finding with my main study area being the New Forest, Hampshire. I spend many hours searching the woods for all raptor species but I pay particular attention to Goshawks, Hobby and the ever so elusive and frustrating Honey Buzzards! Alongside the monitoring I climb the nests to colour ring the chicks and as of this year GPS a handful of Goshawks.
