Join BTO Youth Reps Alice and Amira as they host an evening of talks from Guests involved in the BTO Nest Record Scheme.

For this second session they will be joined by: Jack Baddams, Joe, and Ellie, you can find out more about what they do in their bio's below.

This session is open to anyone under the age of 30 wanting to find out more about how the BTO Nest Record Scheme works, how to monitor and find nests and to hear stories from out in the field! This directly suppliments the ongoing Nest Quest!

Jack Baddams:

"Jack has been involved with the Nest Record Scheme for over ten years; finding and monitoring the nests of various species in Derbyshire. These include many hedgerow, scrub and woodland species, with targeted projects on Lesser-spotted Woodpecker and Spotted Flycatcher.
As the wildlife researcher on BBC Springwatch, he also submits all the fascinating nest record data captured by the show's nest cameras."

Joe:

"Joe has spent the last few years neglecting his school studies to go into the local Cairngorms woods and mountains looking for nests. He spends his time in the woods monitoring sparrowhawk and goshawk and trying to monitor honey buzzards. When in the hills he is probably in a bog watching back dunlin and dotterel."

Ellie:

“I’m Ellie and I specialise in nest finding for heathland and farmland bird species. I have a nest monitoring project focusing on stonechats in the New Forest, but also find nests for anything and everything whilst out! My other focus species I work on include meadow pipits, cuckoos, woodlarks, dartford warblers and corn buntings, as well as the usual thrushes, warblers and finches. I’ve been nesting since I was a teenager and my passion was started by attending a BTO NRS course when I was 16, and have been hooked ever since”.

You can ask our team any and all questions about nest recording and Nest Quest
