An opportunity to practise Wetland Bird Survey (WeBS) methods, Wader ID and waterbird ID during this relaxed field outing. Recommended for those who have recently completed the online Bitesize Wader and Waterbird ID courses.

Following on from the recent Bitesize Wader and Waterbird training, this afternoon of birdwatching will give you the opportunity to put your ID skills into action as we find out what birds can be seen from Ballykelly Bank in early October. We will also introduce you to the Wetland Bird Survey (WeBS) and tell you about how you can get involved.

The session will be relaxed and we will explore the Bank together. We will be outside for the whole time so we recommend bringing warm and waterproof clothes, as well as binoculars and telescopes if you have some.

The event is free of charge.

Location

We will meet at the small carpark at the end of Station Road in Ballykelly before making our way towards the viewing screen and the Bank in search of some birds. The what3words location is turntable.dizzy.thus

There are no public toilets in Ballykelly but you can find a number of options in Limavady which is 10 minutes drive away from where we are meeting.
