Penguins: close encounters

This is a book of beautiful photographs of all sorts of penguins in all sorts of places. It is written by the photographer, and he gives some fascinating accounts of how he took the photographs and what was happening in the surroundings, as well as the types of cameras he used. We learn about his life as a photographer, the extreme weather he suffered and the many hours of waiting for the perfect ‘shot’.

It’s a beautiful ‘coffee-table’ book, full of gorgeous photos, but I would also see it being inspirational as well as informative to budding wildlife photographers. The back of the book contains a penguin fact file on the 17 penguin species of the world.
