Birds of Ceredigion
Sadly, the principle author and driving force behind this regional book did not live to see its publication. It is not an atlas, but rather a detailed guide to the history, status and distribution of this rather under-watched part of Wales. Stretching from the Dyfi Estuary in the north, through Aberystwyth to the Teifi Estuary in the south, and encompassing coast, farmland, woodland and mountains this is a rich area for wildlife and perhaps best-known as the last stronghold of Red Kite before the current re-introductions began. A generous central section presents photos of typical parts of the region, along with characteristic birds. The bulk of the remainder of the book is a detailed, species-by-species account of all birds that have been reliably recorded. Published privately (although as an imprint of the The Wildlife Trust, South and West Wales) the quality is generally very high, although let down slightly by the poor reproduction of the cover photograph.
