Bird Sounds in Flight

This is something very different, and important. Whilst most commercially available bird sound recordings offer a range of a birds vocal repertoire, mostly full song and sometimes a commonly

heard call when the bird is perched, few offer the calls made by birds when they are flying, and fewer still of the sounds made by the action of flying! This does. And how often do we, as birders, identify a bird in flight from its call? Not as often as we'd like I suspect? This is why this offering is important - it opens up a new frontier to bird identification. The quality and clarity of most recordings is outstanding, and many have rarely, if ever, been documented in this way before.

This MP3 disc features 850 sound recordings of 350 European species over a running time of almost six hours. Each recording is catalogued so that the user can go straight to the appropriate species sound by using the booklet index.

So now you can listen and compare the flight calls of those pipits heard flying over but not seen, and identify the geese honking at night. And did you know that Mute Swan produce a very quiet 'rattling' call when flying. You won't have heard it in the field but you can hear it on these recordings!
