Event Description

Join BTO Youth on a guided walk around Hermitage of Braid and Blackford Hill LNR, listening to the different songs and calls of the birds which call this urban nature reserve home. We will help talk through identification features and also talk through some of the BTO surveys that we have on offer including Birds in Green Spaces and BirdTrack. Open to beginners, but any level is welcome to join.

The event is free to attend and open to young people between the ages of 12 and 25. Please note, under 16s will need to be accompanied by a parent/guardian and 16-17 year olds will need to complete a consent form prior to attending. Consent forms will be sent following registration. Completed forms must be sent to youth@bto.org before the event.

The walk will be roughly 4km. Please note that this is not suitable for wheelchair users. There are toilets and a cafe on site, but please bring plenty of water and a packed lunch/snacks with you.

Frequent Buses serve this area and free on street parking is available nearby, and support can be offered if required.

Please bring binoculars if you have them (we will be able to provide a small number to share amongst attendees).

This event is run with the support of BTO & Essex Birdwatching Society. If you have any questions, please email youth@bto.org.
