Welcome to BTO Northern Ireland

BTO is particularly active in Northern Ireland: there are many ways that anyone with an interest in birds can get involved. There are surveys and events that enable involvement by everyone, from those with very limited bird knowledge, right through to expert birders.

We need more people to help gather information about Northern Ireland's birds. The more we know about our bird populations, the better we can inform and influence conservation policy-making in the province, and the planning of conservation action.

We have a dynamic team of BTO volunteers based throughout Northern Ireland, who are always looking for more people to help improve our knowledge.

BTO NI is supported in part through generous funding from the Department of Agriculture, Environment and Rural Affairs (DAERA)/Northern Ireland Environment Agency (NIEA).
