This North American cousin of the Goldcrest is an extremely rare visitor to our shores, typically crossing the Atlantic after getting caught in fast-moving storms.

Following a handful of Western Palearctic records, the species was added to the British List following the sighting of an individual on Barra, Outer Hebrides on 12 November 2020.
