Charlotte Griffiths, Project Lead for BTO's ground-breaking new project to survey raptors in Wales, Cudyll Cymru, hosts a talk on identifying local raptors and how to get involved in the project.
Learn more about the behaviour and ecology of Buzzard, Kestrel, Red Kite, Raven and Sparrowhawk, the key features used in their ID and how you can help monitor these iconic birds in your patch of Wales.
Following the talk and coffee break, the group will take a walk around the reserve to observe the local raptors and practice the identification tips shared in the talk.
The event will comprise of 1.20hr for the presentation, starting at 11am, followed by 1.20hr for a raptor walk across the reserve - bring along binoculars if you have them.
The walk will be weather dependent, meaning the event may finish earlier than scheduled.
Location
The event will take place at Radnorshire Wildlife Trust's flagship nature reserve, Gilfach.
The site is located off the A470 road, between Rhayader to Llangurig.

Please meet at the Visitor Centre in plenty of time for an 11am prompt start to the talk.
Please be aware that currently the heating is not working in the Visitor Centre and the reserve may be wet and muddy, so wearing suitable warm clothing is recommended.
Tea and coffee facilities are available, and you are welcome to bring your own snacks or light lunch.
