If you like waterbirds, and would like to aid in their conservation by counting them for just a few hours a year, then this is the session for you. In winter - to the delight of our birdwatching community - Wales is host to important numbers of many waterbirds.
However, good policies to protect them require good data to back them up, and this is where WeBS comes in. All WeBS involves is counting the birds on a waterbody each month (ideally) between September and March, at sites ranging from small lakes to large estuaries.
A popular survey among BTO volunteers, WeBS is fun, rewarding and relatively straight-forward, and can add light to the darkest months of the year.
