Join BTO Youth and the RSPB for a young birders walk hosted by Alice & Samuel (BTO Youth)

Event Description

This event comprises a 2.5 km guided walk around RSPB Rainham Marshes, learning how to identify the key species that call Rainham home as well as learning about BTO surveys such as the Wetland Bird Survey (WeBS) & the Winter Bird Survey (WinBS). Join us for a wildlife filled guided walk, learning how to identify some of the birds and wildlife that call this urban site home. You will also have the opportunity to learn more about BTO surveys. Open to beginner birders, but any level is welcome to join.


The event is free to attend and open to young people between the ages of 12 and 25. Please note, under 16s will need to be accompanied by a parent/guardian and 16-17 year olds will need to complete a consent form prior to attending. Consent forms will be sent following registration. Completed forms must be sent to youth@bto.org before the event.


Please note that there are toilets on site, however there is no cafe, please bring plenty of water and a packed lunch with you. The reserve is Wheelchair freindly and there is a mobility scoter at the reserve which can be used upon request, this event is therefore suitable for wheelchair users. 

Nearby bus and train services are available, and support can be offered if required.

Please bring binoculars if you have them (we will be able to provide a small number to share amongst attendees).
