Our work in Northern Ireland

BTO NI undertakes a wide range of monitoring and research work across Northern Ireland. The NI Officer and voluntary Regional Network lead public events and encourage participation by volunteers in our core surveys. The NI Senior Research Ecologist leads our professional scientific research work and seabird work. BTO NI is supported by the wider BTO staff team.

By improving the surveillance of our seabirds, together we can work towards conserving the species and sites of greatest concern, and better understand the threats they are facing.

Providing nest boxes for Black Guillemots

We have been collaborating on a project to build and deploy 80 new Black Guillemot nest boxes in the local authority areas of North Down and Ards.
