Join BTO Youth in our ‘Introductory Birding & Citizen Science’ event hosted by Josh (BTO Youth Representative, Yorkshire Central) and the Long Lands Common team.

This event comprises a bird watching and citizen science introduction at community-owned restoration project, Long Lands Common. Participants will learn how to ID birds while on a guided walk, and how to partake in citizen science surveys. Please consider a 1km (~20 min) walk to the site, and then a slow walk around the site.
The event is free to attend and open to those aged 16-25. We aim to create a welcoming, supportive space where participants can connect, learn and enjoy nature without pressure or judgement.
The walk is wheelchair accessible (route via a different entrance), and we’re happy to adjust activities to accommodate your accessibility needs - please let us know if the alternative route is required in advance.
Toilets are located on site. Please note: There are no places to purchase food and drink.
Nearby bus and train services are available, and support can be offered if required.
