Dragons at large

12 Jun 2013 Migrant Hawker reporting rate

We often mention the value of complete lists of all the birds you've identified on a visit to a site. Since July 2012 it's been possible to record dragonflies in BirdTrack too, and for some late-emerging species such as Migrant Hawker, the reporting rates are already starting to give a good indication of the flight period. With some dragonflies and damselflies finally on the wing this year – and bird activity set to quieten down as summer progresses – now is a great time to have a go at a complete list with a dragonfly twist! There are some helpful dragonfly ID tips on the British Dragonfly Society website.
