An excellent portrait of an adult Ring-billed Gull was added to the BirdTrack flickr pool over the weekend, providing a great chance to compare some of the features of this North American vagrant to its close relative, Common Gull. The bill 'ring' is stronger and more complete than that of adult Common Gull, and the combination of the heavier bill and pale yellow iris (black in Common Gull) give an altogether meaner expression.
