If you took part in Nest Box Challenge in 2007, click the button to the right to
sign in. You don’t need to re-register your boxes or gardens unless some details have changed or you’ve moved house. Click here for more....

New Users

To take part, all you have to do is:
• Click on the button to the right to register for the survey.
• Follow the instructions here to register your garden and nest box(es).
• Enter your observations regularly throughout the breeding season.

Important things to remember

• Register your box as soon as possible – you don’t have to wait until a bird uses it.

• Check your boxes at regular intervals and tell us what’s inside (click here for advice on checking boxes).

• We really want to know about empty boxes as well as ones that are used so we can work out what proportion are occupied.

• Keep checking your box until the end of August – most nest box species don’t fledge chicks until the beginning of June, and some species may have a second brood in the summer.

• The most detailed information can be collected by looking inside the box (click here for advice on looking inside boxes). However, if you don’t want to or can’t look in your box, you can still take part in Nest Box Challenge (click here for advice on what to record if you can’t see inside).
