Garden Birds

About Garden Birds

Gardens can be a useful refuge for birds affected by changes in the management of our countryside. So, while some birds will spend their entire lives in our gardens, many others will use gardens on a seasonal basis. Because of this, many species referred to as being 'garden birds' are really just common species found in a variety of habitats. Understanding the ecology of such species and how they use our gardens and the supplementary food we provide can help us to support their populations through difficult times of the year.

Click on the buttons below to find out about some of our more familiar garden bird species. Over time this list will be expanded.
