Lesser Redpoll, a red-listed species of high conservation concern, has been coming into gardens more and more, raising the important question of why? Anecdotally, this species appears to prefer nyjer seed in gardens, and the BTO has been keen to find out more.

In spring 2011, we asked householders to let us know if they had seen Lesser Redpoll or provided nyjer seed in their garden from October 2010 to March 2011, inclusive.
