What is the GBW Reporting Rate?

The 'reporting rate' is a simple way of expressing how a species makes use of gardens. It is calculated by dividing the number of gardens(sites) at which the species was recorded by the number of gardens submiting counts during the period in question. It is usually calculated on a weekly basis. Hence if 10,000 people sent in observations last week but only 5,000 of them saw a Song Thrush, then the reporting rate would be 5,000/10,000=50% or 0.5.
