Talks

Members of the BTO Garden BirdWatch Team give a number of evening talks each year to local wildlife and gardening groups. The aim of these talks is to introduce people to Garden BirdWatch and to provide them with information on how to attract and feed common garden birds.

Each talk can be tailored to the requirements of the group or society hosting it. Gardening groups often want to hear more about the plants that can be used to attract and benefit garden birds, while birdwatching groups want to know more about the birds themselves.

A typical talk lasts for 90 minutes and includes a break mid-way through the evening for coffee, with a session for questions from the audience at the end of the evening. If you are interested in hosting a Garden BirdWatch talk, please contact the GBW Team on 01842-750050 or email gbw [at] bto.org (subject: Request%20for%20a%20Garden%20BirdWatch%20talk) .

A small fee is usually charged, the amount depending upon location and what is required. This provides a contribution towards the costs of putting on a talk. Because of the large number of requests for talks on Garden BirdWatch, we are not always able to accept requests for a speaker and we have to prioritise talks according to where they are in the country and the nature and size of the audience. Currently, we are targeting audiences of 70 plus.
