EBBA2 gap finder tool

05 Apr 2017 ebba2 mapping tool

Fieldwork for the second European Breeding Bird Atlas (EBBA2) has been ongoing since 2013, and will continue this year. For Britain and Ireland, data collection for Bird Atlas 2007–11 fell outside the surveying period so it is important to gather new information to ensure that breeding evidence for the region is as up-to-date as possible.

To help target efforts for EBBA2, there is a new 'Find the Gap' tool available through BirdTrack. With this tool you can identify areas in Britain and Ireland with low coverage, and the highest level of breeding evidence that has been entered for each species to date.

If you are birding in continental Europe this spring and summer, you can find areas with low coverage on the EBBA2 online pages.
