Dove Step 3 goes on the march

06 Feb 2017 Dove Step 3

Launched in late 2013, the Dove Step project aims to highlight the continued serious decline of Turtle Dove and support Operation Turtle Dove. In 2014, three birders walked 300 miles through the species' core range in Britain in the first instalment. The second journey took the team 700 miles from Suffolk to Spain in May 2015.

This year, the Dove Step team will cross Spain on foot, starting at the southernmost point of Iberia in Tarifa and finishing on the north coast.

All Turtle Dove sightings logged in BirdTrack are supplied to the Operation Turtle Dove team to help inform conservation action for this declining species.
