BirdTrack stats for June 2017
13 Jul 2017Early summer may feel like a quiet time for birding, but bird activity and migration is in full swing, and of course, BirdTrack records continue to flood in. In June, a total of 386,253 records were logged by 2,500 observers. This amounted to a total recording effort of around 28,000 hours based on lists submitted with a start and an end time.
At least 310 species were recorded on BirdTrack in Britain and Ireland last month, with the top ten species listed below.

Amazingly, Jackdaw, Blue Tit and Magpie were seperated by just 25 records. Looking further down the rankings at summer migrants, a total of 7,000 Swift, 1,600 Cuckoo and 491 Turtle Dove records. Three BirdTrackers managed to record the Black-browed Albatross visiting a number of locations in northeast England and southern England.
