Spurn Young Birder of the Year announced

The Martin Garner Award for Spurn Young Birder of the Year  is open to aspiring young birders across the UK. The initial round involves an online questionnaire that explores the entrants' birding experience record keeping and understanding of conservation issues.

From an impressive pool of about thirty talented young birders, five finalists were invited to this years Spurn Migration Festival. After several field and lab challenges, George Dunbar was awarded the top prize, including a new pair of binoculars from sponsors Swarovski.

If you will be 16 or under in September 2017 – or know a young birder who will be – and are interested in taking part, keep an eye on the BTO website for entry details.
