Map your targets in the App

02 May 2014 Target species mapping in the App

Another great new feature has just been added to the BirdTrack App for Android smartphones! The 'Year targets' and 'Life targets' tools – which rank the species you haven't yet logged according to the number of other observations in BirdTrack – now allow you to map any nearby records of your target species.

From the 'Year targets' or 'Life targets' list, simply tap on a species to map sightings from ~50 miles of your current location in the last 3, 7 or 14 days (depending on your preferences).

Note that like other public outputs in BirdTrack, rare breeding birds and other sensitive species are not mapped. For example, even if someone else has recently recorded a Long-eared Owl near you, that won't show on the map.
