Getting the most out of the map

07 Mar 2013 BirdTrack map

The map on the new BirdTrack Home page is packed with information! When you first arrive on the page, the map shows 'BirdTracker activity'. The 10-km squares with the most records submitted in the last 30 days are shaded darkest. Zoom in to find out what's been seen at a particular location by scrolling forward with the wheel on your mouse or by using the zoom bar on the left. Once you're zoomed in far enough, BirdTrack markers appear. Double-click to find out what has been recorded at that spot! You can also search for records of a single species by typing its name in the white box and clicking 'Go'. Zoomed out shows the relative frequency of complete lists featuring that species, whilst zoomed in reveals individual records.
