Happy New Year! You could be forgiven for imagining that's what Song Thrushes have been proclaiming loudly for the last few days, as males have been taking advantage of the mild weather to begin establishing their territories. This behaviour should make them – along with Mistle Thrushes – relatively easy to find during the remainder of the core period of the BTO Winter Thrushes Survey, which ends on Thursday 10 January.
