The reporting rate for Whinchat highlights this species' strong early autumn passage in late August / early September. Although 2012 saw a more noticeable (if slightly late) spring passage compared to the previous two years, the last week of August still saw the highest reporting rate of the year. It's worth keeping an eye out for them over the next week or so, both on the coast and inland, in any open habitats with suitable perches.
