This year we are part of Walk 4 Wildlife. It's a series of events to bring together like-minded people, people with an empathy for animals and a determination to go the extra mile to help protect our planet's amazing wildlife.
There are two ways people can take part and support the BTO while doing so:
Schools Walk - Friday May 19th
On May 19th 2017 hundreds of thousands of primary school children took part in an attempt to break a Guinness™ World Record by joining together and walking at the same time, whilst raising money for wildlife charities. We hope the event will run again next year, do let us know if you want to take part and raise money for BTO.
Latest update: First official count - It's estimated around 23,000 schoolchildren took part in the first ever School's Walk 4 Wildlife and hopefully have set a new record for the most children walking at the same time in an organised sponsored walk. An application has now been submitted to Guinness World Records.
Walking 4 wildlife - Four unique sponsored walks around the UK (June-October).
Anyone can sign up for the four unique sponsored walks organised at locations around the UK.Throughout the summer of 2017 four very different sponsored Walks for Wildlife will be organised, at four very different locations. The season starts in the Sussex South Downs with a 'Three Distance Challenge' and ends with a 20-mile night safari walk in the New Forest.
