Recording escapes on BirdTrack

23 Nov 2018 Black Swan by Moss Taylor/BTO

Logging sightings of birds that have escaped or been released from collections provides useful information on their distribution and numbers throughout Britain and Ireland. This can give an indication as to whether the species may potentially impact native breeding birds.

If you happen to find any likely escaped species, please include as much information as possible, and  use the 'Escaped/released' activity tag in optional details tab. While records of escaped birds are welcomed, please do not record obviously captive birds, for example the pelicans in St. James's Park, London or in any collection of captive birds.
