Additional information

Portland Bird Observatory is one of the UK's premier destinations for witnessing spring migration! The course is timed to coincide with the arrival of Swallow, Wheatear and Willow Warbler, among many other species. Our weekend residential bird ID course is led by renowned ornithologist and accomplished tutor Steve Piotrowski. Formal taught sessions help reinforce the learning, and participants are encouraged to learn from each other as well. The course will help you build confidence identifying common migratory and resident species, and there will be several outdoor sessions, providing plenty of opportunities to put what you have learnt into practice, from the exciting base of an active Bird Observatory!
