Additional information

Flatford Mill, familiar to many through the paintings of John Constable, forms a stunning backdrop to your course. The surrounding area is rich in birdlife, with the Stour estuary and Dedham Vale on the doorstep. Our weekend residential bird ID course is led by renowned Suffolk ornithologist and accomplished tutor Steve Piotrowski. Formal taught sessions help reinforce the learning, and participants are encouraged to learn from each other as well. The course will help you build confidence identifying common wintering wildfowl and waders, and teach you how you can apply these skills to the Wetland Bird Survey (WeBS). There will be several outdoor sessions, with plenty of opportunities to observe birds at the excellent wetland sites nearby and put what you have learnt into practice!
